Colombia: Ciudad Perdida



Colombia. Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Ciudad Perdida, a lost Tairona city. The lower terraces used to support huts, the upper ones  (shown here) supported sacred buildings. A drainage system all around insured that rains were quickly channelled down the mountain to avoid erosion.

Colombie. Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Ciudad Perdida, une ville Tairona oubliée. Les terraces inférieures servaient de bases aux huttes de la tribu. Les bases supérieures, vues ici, supportaient les  édifices sacrés. Un système de drainage tout autour assurait une rapide évacuation des eaux de pluie, minimisant l’érosion.
