Colombia. Sierra Nevada de
Santa Marta. Ciudad Perdida, a lost Tairona city
discovered in 1972 by grave robbers who followed a stone-paved paths up to it.
Archaeologists only learned about heir discovery after some of the precious
content of graves started appearing on the local market. The Indians inhabiting
the region had always known about the ruins. Soon after I did a photo story on
those ruins for the German and French editions of Geo magazine.

oubliée, découverte en 1972 par des pilleurs de tombeaux qui y arrivèrent en
suivant un chemin pavé de dalles de pierre qui les y conduisit. Les archéologues
apprirent la découverte seulement après que le précieux contenu des tombes
apparut sur le marché. Peu après, j’y ai fait un reportage photographique pour
les éditions allemande et française du magazine Géo.
